Transfer credit for A-level courses
The University of Waterloo recognizes A Level courses as excellent academicpreparation for success at the university level and will consider awardingtransfer credits for A Level courses in which normally a minimum final grade ofB is attained.

Please note that official final A Level results must be sent directly tothe Admissions Office at Waterloo before transfer credits can be considered.Your final A Level transcript must be received by August 17th.

1.The maximum number of transfer credits considered varies depending on theprogram you're admitted to.

3.The A Level Transfer Credit Chart for Business Administration andComputer Science Double Degree and Business Administration and MathematicsDouble Degree lists the specific Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier Universitytransfer credit equivalents for these programs.
4.The transfer credits you receive will be different if you change to aprogram that requires you to transfer from one faculty to another faculty.Please note that in such a situation, a faculty admissions committee reservesthe right to refuse transfer credits.
You have the option of declining your transfer credits. Details will besent by email to you in July/August, once your transfer credits have beenassessed.

3.Specific transfer credit courses will not be awarded for courses that aredirectly related to core courses for your degree. That is, the following creditfor A level courses will be given: Biology will be BIOL 1XX, Calculus will beMATH 1XX, Chemistry will be CHEM 1XX, Psychology will be PSYCH 1XX, and Physicswill be PHYS 1XX.

You may find that you have covered some of the material includedin our first term courses but, in most cases, not enough for you to be exemptedfrom the entire course without potentially running into academic difficultieslater.
2.The depth and level of problem-solving is very different in ourEngineering programs than in the courses in the systems listed above.
3.As a result, we do not grant first-year course exemptions for A-Levelcourses.

accept the transfer credit and begin your calculus sequence with MATH 138;or
decline the transfer credit and begin your calculus sequence with MATH 137;or
decline the transfer credit and begin your calculus sequence with AdvancedCalculus (MATH 147). The option to take MATH 147 is available only if yourEuclid Mathematics Contest score is 80 or higher or if you obtain permissionfrom the instructor of the MATH 147 course once you arrive on campus inSeptember.
