Rent Payment
In Japan the rent fee must be paid generally by the designated date of theprevious month. Rent fee in arrears causes a lot of troubles toward a landlord,a management company and a guarantor. Be aware to pay the monthly rent fee bythe designated date of the previous month.
支付租金
在日本，租金一般需要在前一个月的指定日期支付。租金拖欠会给房东、房产公司、担保人造成许多麻烦。因此要记得在前一个月的指定日期支付每月的租金。
Noise Issues
In several apartments, sounds go through easily to the rooms of neighborsor downstairs. Listening to music at a high volume, talking loudly in your roomand using such items as laundry machines and the shower after midnight mayinconvenience your neighbors. Especially during night time sounds becomeslouder. Please remember that you live in a shared complex and respect yourneighbors at all times by keeping noise levels down.
噪音问题

Frozen Water Pipes
During winter season when the outside temperature drops below -4˚C, waterin the pipes may freeze and water pipes may burst. It takes time and costs a lotto repair the pipes. On cold days, it is advisable to defreeze pipes by runningwater for a few minutes in the morning.
水管冷冻

Moving out
You need to inform your landlord/management company of your leaving date atleast one month prior to vacating. Where this has not been done, additional rentwill be imposed. Your room should be in the same condition as to when you movedin. In the event of any damage to the premises or items within, you will beliable for all costs. Depending on the apartment contract you may also berequired to pay a mandatory cleaning fee.

Breach of Contract
The room you are renting is the landlord’s property. It is forbidden torenovate the room or remove attachments. Please also note that only the contractholder(s) are permitted to live in the apartment.

Generally a guarantor is required when renting a house or apartment inJapan. Hokkaido University can become the guarantor for you, if you havedifficulties in finding a personal guarantor when applying to rent anapartment.
在日本租房，一般都需要有担保人。如果你在申请租房的时候找不到担保人，北海道大学可以作为你的担保人。
Eligibility:
You must be enrolled in Hokkaido University as an International Student (Inprinciple, those who have the status of residence “College Student”)
You must have ‘Comprehensive Renters Insurance for Foreign StudentsStudying in Japan.’
资格条件：
1.必须是在北海道大学注册的国际学生(即原则上，居留状态为“大学生”的学生);
2.必须有“外国学生在日本学习的全面承租人保险”。
Procedures:
Find out how to apply by inquiring at the International Student SupportDesk, 1st floor of the Office of International Affairs with your student ID cardand residence card. If you share an apartment with another Hokkaido Universityinternational student, you (contractor) and your roommate are required to cometogether. The applicant must submit all of the documents listed below to theDivision of International Exchange in person. Generally It takes a week to 10days to complete the procedure. Therefore, please submit your documents as soonas possible to complete all procedures before your move-in day. Mail-inapplication is not accepted.

可以咨询国际学生支援台，支援台在国际事务办公室一楼。你可以带上学生证和居留证去咨询他们如何申请。如果你是和北海道大学的另一名国际学生合租，你和室友都需要前去咨询。申请人必须亲自将下列文件交到国际交换部。一般而言，申请需要一周或者10天时间。因此请尽快提交文件，以便在入学日之前完成申请。不接受电子邮件申请。

Please Note:
The University can be your guarantor while you are enrolled as aninternational student. When your enrollment period is prolonged and you hope tostay in the same apartment, you must re-apply for the guaranty system.
If you leave the University before the enrollment period expires, theUniversity will dissolve the guaranty contract.
You must renew your ‘Comprehensive Renters Insurance for Foreign StudentsStudying in Japan’ at the Division of International Exchange when the insuranceperiod expires.
注意：
1.在你注册为国际学生期间，北海道大学可以作为你的担保人。当你的注册期延长，你想继续住在同一住所的时候，你需要重新申请担保。

4.Garbage Disposal
垃圾处理
Due to Japan having limited space for dealing with waste, you are requiredto dispose of your rubbish in a certain way, under strict city controls. It mustbe separated according to categories prior to being put out. You may also berequired to place your rubbish at the collection point on certain days of theweek depending on whether it’s burnable, non-burnable, glass, etc. Be sure tofollow these very important rules and do your bit in keeping Japan clean.

5.Procedures for Moving Out
搬出
What you need to do:
Notify your local Post Office
All your mail can be forwarded to your new address for a period of one yearafter you fill out a simple notification form at the post office.
Notify your local Municipal / Ward Office
When you change your address, you need to visit your municipal / wardoffice within 14 days of your moving day to register your new address.
National Health Insurance
When completing the above, please be sure to register your change ofaddress on your National Health Insurance Card (also done at the Ward Office) soit can be reissued.
Notify Hokkaido University
Please advise the Academic Affairs Section of your faculty / graduateschool of your new address. If you obtained your accommodation via our GuarantorSystem, you must submit the “Notification of Moving-out” to the Division ofInternational Services on the first floor of the Office of InternationalAffairs.
你需要做的：

Renting Privately?
You must give your landlord / management company one or two months advancenotice. Be aware that anything less than this may result in additional rent. Youare responsible for leaving the apartment in the same condition to when youmoved in. In the event you are found to be responsible for any damages found,you will be asked to pay for repair fees upon vacating. Additionally, dependingon your contract, you may also be required to pay a cleaning fee.
私人租房
如果你是自己租房，你必须提前一到二个月告知房东或房产公司。晚于这个时间可能会收取额外租金。你负责保持房间原样，和住进去时一样。如果房间有损坏，搬出去之后你需要支付维修费。此外，根据租赁合同，你可能需要交清洁费。
Gas, Electricity and Water
Before vacating your apartment, you must cancel the gas, electricity andwater supply contracts you hold. In certain cases, your landlord/managementcompany may complete these procedures on your behalf. Please check withthem.
气、电、水
搬出去之前，必须终止气、电、水供应合同。某些情况下，房东或者房产公司会代你完成这些程序。要和他们核实好。
