Special graduate program of civil engineering

The department of civil engineering has initiated the concept of Specialgraduate program targeting foreign student who are not able to take courses inJapanese.The special graduate program is specially designed as Doctoral andMaster graduate program for foreign student in which the Department of CivilEngineering, Yokohama National University offers courses in English. Full timeattendance for three years starting from the winter term (beginning fromOctober) is necessary for a doctor's course, and two years for a master'scourse. Course work and research work are required. The program is ratherresearch oriented although course work is necessary. Courses are offered inEnglish and all dissertation works including adviser's guidance, progressreport, writing and presentation are done in English.

Student can enrol for this program both Spring (April) and Fall (October)intake. However, the department recommended scholarships are only available forOctober intake. About six scholarships are allocated to this program by theMinistry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Monbukagakusho),Japan for candidate student with excellent academic records.
At present 23 graduate students including 18 Doctoral student and 5 Masterdegree students are pursuing their study under this program. By the end ofSeptember 2012, Doctoral degree and Master degree has been awarded under specialgraduate program in English.

2. Program Requirements
In order to obtain a Ph.D. in Business Administration, a student mustsuccessfully complete 20 credits or more, and then undertake the successfulproposal, submission, and oral defense of a doctoral dissertation. An overallGPA of 2.0 (max: 4.5) or better for courses taken at YNU is also required forgraduation.

We seekmotivated students from all over the world, who are eager to work in suchfields. Graduates of the Doctoral Program in Transnational Law and Policy willbe able to conduct leading-edge research and to publish their research atinternational conferences and in international journals (both academic andpolicy-oriented).
