Research Students
Students who wish to conduct specific research on non-credit basis mayenter Kobe University as research students by obtaining an approval from eachfaculty or graduate school. Most international students entering as researchstudents do so to enhance their scholastic ability to the level sufficient foradmission to master’s or doctoral programs offered by respective graduateschools. Students must obtain an approval in advance from their prospectiveadvisor / professor.
研究型学生
有意在无学分基础上从事特定研究的学生，得到相关学院或研究生院的同意，可以以研究型学生身份入学神户大学。大部分以研究型学生身份入学的国际学生都这样做，以便将学术能力提高到可以入学研究生院硕士或博士课程的层次。学生必须提前获得指导老师(教授)的同意。
Eligibility
申请资格
Undergraduate Students
Applicants must be foreign nationals who do not hold Japanese nationalityand have successfully completed 14 years (for Undergraduate, including juniorcollege) of school education or the equivalent.
Graduate Students (Master’s course)
Applicants must be foreign nationals who do not hold Japanese nationalityand have successfully completed 16 years (for Master’s) of school education orthe equivalent. Those who are expected to graduate are also eligible
Graduate Students (Doctoral course)
Applicants must be foreign nationals who do not hold Japanese nationalityand have Master degree or the equivalent. Those who are expected to graduate arealso eligible.
本科生
申请人必须为非日本国籍公民，并且已经顺利完成14年(针对本科生，包括大专学生)的学校教育或者同等教育。有望在规定时间内毕业的学生也可以申请。
研究生(硕士课程)
申请人必须为非日本国籍公民，并且已经顺利完成16年(针对硕士生)的学校教育或者同等教育。有望在规定时间内毕业的学生也可以申请。
博士生(博士课程)
申请人必须为非日本国籍公民，并且持有硕士学位或同等学位。有望在规定时间内毕业的学生也可以申请。
Entrance Periods
Twice a year (April and October) for most Faculties Graduate Schoolsexcept:
Faculty and Graduate School of Medicine: Every month
Graduate School of Business Administration: April only
入学时间

Duration
Within 1 year. However, it may be extended to one more year. The maximumshould not exceed 2 years.

Selection Method
Students are selected based on the submitted documents and an interview.However, the interview might be omitted for applicants residing overseas.
Admission requirements vary according to each Faculty and Graduate School.For details, please refer to the pages of each Faculty/Graduate School.
Note: The Faculties of Law, Economics and Business Administration do notaccept research students.

1. Find your future supervisor
Faculties and Graduate schools require students to find an academicsupervisor to advise them during their period of research at Kobe University.Interested students should check to see which supervisor specializes in theirfield of interest and contact them directly. Some Faculty/Graduate School mayrequire a written consent from the advisor.

If the contact information is not available on the website of theFaculty/Graduate School, contact the Student Affairs Section of the relevantFaculty or Graduate School.

2. Obtain Application Information and Application Forms
When to request
If the contact information is not available on the website of theFaculty/Graduate School, contact the Student Affairs Section of the relevantFaculty or Graduate School.
Some Faculties and Graduate Schools do not disclose application informationon their websites. Please contact them directly for details.
Where and How to request
Applicants can obtain application forms either by visiting the office ofeach Faculty and Graduate School directly or requesting by post. When requestingby post, be sure to enclose a return envelop with the necessary stamp attachedto the Student Affairs Section of respective Faculty or Graduate School.
Note:
The return envelop should be a size that can enclose an A4- size (Legalsize) without folding the forms.
Please attach the necessary amount of stamp to the return envelop.

3. Apply
When to apply
Most Faculties and Graduate Schools usually have two admission periods ayear.
Note:
The following are exceptions: Faculty and Graduate School of Medicine :every month; Graduate School of Business Administration : once a year.
Please note that the application period for those who do not live in Japanand require a visa to come is different from those who do.
Necessary documents

Application form, curriculum vitae, medical examination report, Diplomas,Transcripts, Photos, admission fee payment record
(Others)
Some Faculties and Graduate Schools require certificates indicating thestudents’ Japanese language ability and the copy of Certificate of Residenceetc.
Where to apply
Send the necessary application material to the Student Affairs Section ofrespective Faculty or Graduate School by post. Must reach by the deadline, latearrival would not be considered for admission.

How to Find Out the Result
Applicants will receive an admission notice and other information by post.Inquiries by phone are not accepted. If accepted, applicants must make thepayment of admission fee by bank transfer and submit the necessarydocuments.

6. Prepare for Coming to Japan
Passport and Visa (when applicants reside overseas)
In order to enter Japan, international students must have a passport and a“College Student Visa”. Please refer to “Procedure for Entering Japan” fordetails on how to apply for the visa.
Secure Accommodation
There are University housings and other accommodation that students canapply forthrough the university, but these rooms are limited. Please use the“Kobe University Student Apartment Search System” to look for private apartment.This system has been established with Nasic National Student Information Centerfor Kobe University international students. Students can also use this searchsystem to reserve an apartment from overseas. It is available in 4 languages(Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean) and will also support students withlease agreement.
Students can also search apartment through Kobe University Co-op ServiceCenter after arrival in Kobe.
Reserve an airplane ticket and purchase a traveler’s insurance.(Recommended but optional)
准备护照和签证

住宿
神户大学提供有大学宿舍和其他住宿，学生可以通过大学申请，不过房间数量有限。请使用神户大学学生住宿搜索系统寻找私人住宿。该系统和 Nasic国家学生信息中心共同建立，专门为神户大学国际学生服务。学生也可以从海外使用该系统租房。系统提供四种语言(日语、英语、汉语和韩语)，并且提供有学生租赁协议帮助。

7. After Arriving in Japan
Come to Kobe University during the designated period to complete thenecessary entrance procedures.
