Facilities
Library and Science Information Center
This is a center of academic information of the university open to thepublic with three major functions of a library, an information network and alecture hall.
The collection of the library consists of approximately 60,000 books,providing a variety of information and publications as well as electronicjournals and database. The information network supports classes and thepractical training for information education and makes possible advancedresearches and preparation of dissertations for the users. The main hall (U HallShirasagi) with a seating capacity of 1,200 can be used for a variety ofevents.

Library at Nakamozu Campus
The library is located inside the Library and Science Information Center.Its large collection covers a broad range of publications such as Japanese andforeign books, back numbers of academic journals and materials for education andresearch, etc. The facility with two above-ground floors and two under-groundfloors has audio & visual booths and rooms and spaces for computerworkstation. It is open to the residents of Osaka Prefecture and those whocommute to the prefecture to work or study.
Nakamozu 校区图书馆

U Hall Shirasagi
With a capacity of 1,200 people, this hall is utilized not only foreducational and research activities of the university, but also used for thebenefit of prefectural residents through programs such as open lectures andcultural events.

Conference Hall
This hall with a capacity of 300 people has a main hall, a small hall, aspecial conference room equipped with a simultaneous interpreting system and asalon for a variety of uses to promote academic exchanges among the industry,the university and the government.

Habikino Health Sciences Library
This is one of the largest libraries specialized in healthcare and nursingin Japan, containing a collection of about 130,000 books, 1,000 journals and3,900 audio & visual materials. The system is networking with libraries inand out of Japan, which fully supports education for the university students. Italso shares the information with the local medical-related people for thepurpose of developing advanced specialists to meet the needs of today’sfast-changing healthcare.
Habikino健康科学图书馆

Lecture Hall (Habikino)
This 911-seat hall, equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and soundsystems can be used for a variety of educational and research activities of theuniversity as well as community and cultural events for local residents.

Osaka Prefecture University has a long and rich history, dating back to itsfounding as a training school for veterinary science.

<1949>
Former Osaka Prefecture University (Naniwa University) was established bythe merger of seven technical schools. It placed a strong emphasis on “practicallearning,” thus offering the courses in the areas of engineering, agriculture,economics, integrated arts and sciences and social welfare.
Osaka Women’s University was established to provide innnovative educationand research that is still highly evaluated internationally in the area ofwomen’s studies today, producing a great number of women leaders.

Osaka Prefecture College of Nursing was founded to develop advancedclinical specialists who can meet the fast-changing needs of the medical fieldin an age of the declining birthrate and aging population. It originally startedas Osaka Prefecture Junior College of Nursing in 1978.

Osaka Prefecture University became a public university corporation throughthe integration of the former Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka Women’sUniversity and Osaka Prefecture College of Nursing.
Each of the three institutions had been making a great contribution to theadvancement of education and academic research and to the development ofexceptional human resources for more than half a century, and Osaka PrefectureUniversity inherited the value, asset and history of each institution forfurther development and contribution to people and society at home andabroad.
<2005>
大阪府立大学通过融合前大阪府立大学、大阪妇女大学和大阪府立护士学院，成了法人化公立大学。
