一、For students entering Japan from their home country
从本国入境日本的学生
If you are entering Japan as an international student at Gunma University,you are supposed to follow the procedures indicated below to obtain your visa.It takes one to three months to acquire a Certificate of Eligibility for aStatus of Residence issued by the Tokyo Regional Immigration Bureau. It isrecommended that you begin the procedures promptly after you have been notifiedof your admittance.
如果是群马大学的国际学生，要入境日本，你需要遵照以下列出的流程获取签证。需要一到三个月才能拿到东京入国管理局签发的身份合格证书，有身份合格证书才能申请居留证。建议你在得到录取通知之后立即开始签证流程。
Entering Japan as a postgraduate.
1.Contact a professor or the teacher of the university laboratory in whichyou plan to enroll, in order to receive his/her letter of informal approval ofacceptance.
2.Fill out an application document and submit it to Gunma University.
Prepare the necessary documents for acquiring a Certificate of Eligibilityfor a Status of Residence Application and submit them to Gunma University.

Your research plan
Evidence of monetary means for support during your stay (documents whichprove you have enough money to live in Japan. e.g., copies of your bankbook, acertificate of your bank balance, etc.)
Documents verifying your identification
Two photographs (4 cm by 3 cm)
4.Take an entrance examination (or screening of the documents) to satisfythe Gunma University requirements for making the admission decision.
5.Pay the Gunma University entrance fee of ¥282,000.
6.Gunma University issues a Certificate of Enrollment.
7.Gunma University submits your application form to the Immigration Bureauby proxy.
8.The Immigration Bureau issues the Certificate of Eligibility for a Statusof Residence and sends it to Gunma University in one or two months.
Gunma University sends this original certificate to you via EMS (ExpressMail Service). (It usually takes about one week, though this may vary dependingupon each country.)
9.Upon receiving your certificate, apply for a visa at your nearestJapanese consulate.
10.Once your visa has been granted, begin preparations to come to Japan.Inform Gunma University of your arrival date once it is fixed.
研究生入境日本
1.联系你计划注册的大学的教授或老师，征求教授或老师的非正式同意。
2.填写申请文件，提交到群马大学。准备好获取身份合格证书(用于申请居留证)所需的文件，并将文件提交给群马大学。

3.The faculty in Gunma University that you intend to join makes a decisionregarding your admission as a research student. (Decisions are mademonthly.)
4.Pay the Gunma University entrance fee of ¥84,600.
5.Gunma University issues a Certificate of Enrollment.
6.Gunma University submits your application form to the Immigration Bureauby proxy.
7.The Immigration Bureau issues the Certificate of Eligibility for a Statusof Residence and sends it to Gunma University in one to three months.

二、For students already living in Japan and entering GU
Procedures to change status of residence
You will need to change your status of residence if you are entering GunmaUniversity after having been enrolled at a Japanese language school or anotherschool in Japan (and your status of residence is “Pre-college Student”), orafter having been employed and your status of residence is “Specialist inHumanities/International Services” or “Engineer,” or if your status of residenceis “Dependent”, etc. Please visit the nearest Immigration Bureau to begin thenecessary procedures. The following are the documents you need to bring withyou.

[If you are enrolled at a Japanese language school] Certification of thedate of Expected Graduation from the Japanese language school/AcademicTranscript
[If you are employed] Certificate of Employment/Certificate of FinalEducation/Academic Transcript
[If you live in Japan as a dependant] Certificate of FinalEducation/Academic Transcript
4.Evidence of monetary means for support during your stay (documents whichprove you have enough money to live in Japan. e.g., copies of your bankbook, acertificate of your bank balance, etc., or anything that proves somebody in yourhomeland will be remitting money to you.)
5.Your passport and Certificate of Alien Registration
6.\4,000 for changing the status of residence (Payment must be made withrevenue stamps.)
1.改变居留状态许可申请表，一式三份。
2.群马大学注册证明(原件)。在申请改变的时候，如果入学程序不完整，将签发录取通知。
3.当前或原有的学生注册(在职)证明。
如果你当前注册的是日语学校，需要预计毕业时间证明或成绩单证明;
如果你是在职人士，需要在职证明(或最后教育证明和成绩单证明);
如果你是以被抚养者身份居住在日本，需要最后教育证明和成绩单证明。
4.经济证明(银行存折、银行存款证明或者任何表明你所属的国家有人汇款给你的证明)。
5.护照和侨外登记卡。
6.支付4,000 日元用于改变居留状态手续费(必须用印花税票支付)。
Procedures to renew your status of residence
If you have a valid "College Student" status of residence, but it expiresbefore the new one is issued, the following procedures must be completed at theImmigration Bureau before the expiration date. Please bring the followingdocuments with you.
