Support for International Students
The International Office assists international students with admissions andregistration for courses and also provides support for such matters as studentdormitories, scholarships, health insurance, and immigration. The InternationalOffice sponsors a buddy system whereby Japanese students volunteer to helpincoming international students learn their way around campus and life in Japan.The on-campus Global Lounge hosts many events that encourage interaction betweeninternational and Japanese students. Rikkyo's Student Counseling Center isavailable to offer support in English for any student concern.

Japanese Language Programs
The Center for Japanese Language Education (CJLE) offers a JapaneseLanguage Program and also provides various programs to support all theinternational students who study at Rikkyo. The CJLE has established nine levelsof Japanese language courses, each designed to improve your Japanese while alsomatching your needs and interests. The CJLE provides the Japanese LanguageSupport Desk, where Japanese instructors assist international students withtheir studies of the Japanese language. Students can receive guidance on anytype of academic Japanese writing and also get advice on how to improve theirstudies of the Japanese language.
日语学习课程

Extracurricular Education
Rikkyo University has a long tradition of encouraging students to gooutside the classroom to experience the world through extracurricularactivities. Rikkyo believes that camps, fieldworks, club and circle activities,volunteer activities, and other extracurricular activities are an integral partof our educational mission. In particular, the International Office organizesactivities for international students to foster intercultural friendships andprovide opportunities to learn about traditional Japanese culture by offeringcultural workshops, excursions and filed trips.

It is important that international students seeking jobs in Japan, likeJapanese students, start collecting information and taking steps early.
Career Support Program
The Career Support Program offers students opportunities to explore theirfuture options, including employment. Such opportunities range from careerdesign lectures which invite professionals who are working at the front line ofsociety, company study tours to proactively think about what it means to “work”by visiting companies, and an internship program unique to Rikkyo. The Programhelps students “chart their own path and take a step forward.”

Employment Support Program
This program holds diverse events according to each step of the job-huntingprocess. The events include not only those targeting everyone, such as“Employment Guidance” and “Joint Company Information Session,” but also eventsspecific to different groups, such as international students and those aspiringto become public servants. In addition, offers seminars for students to developpractical skills for the job-hunting process, as well as consultations withalumni. This program supports third and fourth year students through anextensive lineup of activities.

Career Center
The Career Center offers two broad types of supports: “career support”covering the period from the time of enrollment, graduation, to post-graduationcareers; and “job-hunting support” to help students with their job-huntingactivities. “Career support” provides students opportunities to discover what itmeans to live and work and self-reflect through curricular and extracurricularacademic programs and internships. “Job-hunting support” gives studentsnecessary tips throughout their job-hunting process. The Career Center helpsstudents develop into independent adults and enter the real world as membersthat support society.

Helpful Job-Hunting Tools
Information collection is essential for job-hunting. At the Career Centerand libraries, students can access the Rikkyo Employment Navi, as well as browseand borrow books on careers and job-hunting. Students can also view economicnewspapers, such as the Nikkei Shimbun, and economic magazines.

Career Design Guidance
Rikkyo University provides career design guidance (offered according tocollege or department) during the new student orientation. New students are ableto listen to advice from alumni and upperclassmen, and to participate in groupdiscussions with other new students. In this way, job preparation activities atRikkyo communicate to students that a career should be aboutself-discovery?learning about oneself as an independent individual?and aboveall, about the importance of leading an enriching student life by setting goalsand selfreflecting. These activities are designed to encourage students to formcareer aspirations soon after enrolling in the university.

Career-Related Courses in Regular Curriculum
Rikkyo University equips students with the basic skills and manners theywill need as working professionals. Our “career courses” are one example of suchcareer skill support. A number of career courses have been established withinthe university-wide curriculum and the specialized academic curriculum of eachcollege. These courses provide students an opportunity to examine their careerpaths from their first year.

Internship
An internship is a program for students (typically unpaid) to receivetraining and work experience at a company. Students wishing to do an internshipmust apply on their own. For international students, internships will alsoprovide an avenue to experience Japanese work culture and learn about businessetiquette in Japan. Many international students take advantage of internshipopportunities.

Job-Hunting Seminar for International StudentsIn principle, internationalstudents will take part in job-hunting programs with Japanese students. However,topics and information specific to international students will be explained atthe “Job-Hunting Seminar for International Students.” These seminars are openalso to those who are not in their third year of college when full-fledgedjob-hunting activities start, or in their first year of the Master’s Program.The seminar allows students to obtain information, knowledge, and experiencenecessary for employment in Japan at an early stage.

Through these courses,international students can acquire the knowledge and skills necessar y forpassing Japan’s unique employment exams (mainly the kokugo [Japanese] section),as well as learn about Japanese conversation phrases and writing methods neededfor doing business in Japan. In addition, the Japanese Language Support Deskservice of the Center for Japanese Language Education offers advice oncompleting job application forms and other forms in Japanese.

The University’s Career Center provides several career support programs andassists students in the course of their job search. For international students,the International Office and Career Center jointly organize a "Job-HuntingSeminar for International Students" and "Panel Discussion of SuccessfulInternational Job-Hunters". Moreover, the Career Center offers personalcounseling services to students regarding career development, regardless of whatyear they are in. As mentioned above, Rikkyo University is fully committed tohelping international students discover their true calling.
