Accommodation for International Students
Saitama University has the “International House,” a residential facilityfor international students. However, the International House does not presentlyhave sufficient capacity for all the international students, so approximatelytwo-thirds of such students have to find accommodation themselves.
Live in International House
Live in a Private Apartment
埼玉大学有国际之家，专门针对国际学生的住宿设施。不过，国际之家目前容量有限，不够所有国际学生居住。将近三分之二的国际学生需要自己找房。

a.Live in the International House
Applications to staying in the International House are accepted in July(moving in October) and January (moving in April). For those wishing to move inInternational House, please forward application to the Office of Faculty whichyou belong. Since the number of rooms is limited, you may not be able to movein, even though you submit the application. Allowed residence period is maximumone year.
The International House provides 152 rooms for international students and20 rooms for researchers.
七月(十月入住)和一月(四月入住)接受国际之家宿舍申请。对于有意住国际之家的学生，请向所属学院的办公室提交申请。由于房间数量有限，可能提交了申请，你也不能入住。许可的居住期限不超过一年。

Facilities in Individual Room
A room is furnished with a desk, chair, bookshelf, bed, closet, telephone,refrigerator, cupboard, dining table, dining chair, gas water heater, cookingstove, sink, suspension cupboard, air conditioner, shoe cabinet, curtain,etc.

b.Live in a private apartment
In many cases in Japan, a “Joint Guarantor” is required when you enter intoa lease agreement for an apartment, and so forth. The “Joint Guarantor” is aperson who will be responsible jointly with the lessee (an internationalstudent, in this case) for debts to the lessor. In Japan, people generally askfor a family member to become a joint guarantor. International students who havedifficulty finding a joint guarantor by themselves can apply to SaitamaUniversity to be a joint guarantor. Saitama University can be your jointguarantor only during the period in which you are validly registered with theschool. Please note that a joint guarantee will be canceled when you lose yourschool registration due tograduation, or withdrawal and/or expulsion.
私人住房
在日本，很多情况下，在签订租赁协议的时候需要有联合担保人。联合担保人和承租人共同承担向出租人支付租金的责任。对于这种情况，承租人就是国际学生。在日本，人们通常会要求家庭成员做联合担保人。自己寻找联合担保人有困难的国际学生，可以向埼玉大学申请，让埼玉大学作为其联合担保人。埼玉大学只在你注册埼玉大学的有效期间担任联合担保人。请注意，由于毕业、退学或被开除等原因而失去学校注册的学生，联合担保人将被取消。
Application conditions
Enrollment at the Saitama University as a degree seeking student.
Have the resident status of “Student”, and be eligible to enroll in“Comprehensive Renters’ Insurance for Foreign Students Studying in Japan” (4,000yen for one year and 8,000 yen for two years)
There is no unpaid balance for tuition.
Those who can comply with that is described in a written pledge.
A property is owned by a landlord or management company which can accept anApartment Tenancy Guarantee, instead of a clause regarding a joint guarantor inthe agreement.
A contracted property is located within a roughly 2-km radius of SaitamaUniversity.
If a roommate is a foreigner, he or she must have the resident status of“Student”, and has enrolled in Comprehensive Renters’ Insurance for ForeignStudents Studying in Japan.
申请条件
2.持有学生签证，符合“国外学生在日本学习全面承租人保险”注册要求。(该保险第一年交4,000 日元，后两年交 8,000 日元。)

Application procedure
Inform a real estate agent that you would like to use the university’sinstitutional guarantee as a joint guarantor to execute an apartment leaseagreement.
Bring the agreement, student identification card, and resident card to theOffice of International Affairs, and fill out the application form forInstitutional Guarantee. Then, have an interview with a student counselor(counseling time 12:00-16:00 p.m.).
Pay the insurance fee at a Lawson convenience store after theinterview.
Bring the receipt to the Office of International Affairs.
Receive the Apartment Tenancy Guarantee and the agreement at the Office ofInternational Affairs two to three days later, and take them to the real estateagent.
申请流程
1，通知房地产中介，说你想让埼玉大学的制担保人作为你的联合担保人，签订租赁合同。
2.带租赁协议、学生证和居留证到国际事务办公室，填写制度担保人申请表。然后，和学生顾问面谈。面谈时间为中午十二点至下午四点。
3.面谈之后，到 Lawson 便利店交保险费。
4.将收据带到国际事务办公室。
5.两至三天之后，到国际事务办公室领取房屋租赁担保和租赁协议，将它们交给房产商。
University Library
Saitama University gathers various documents necessary for education andresearch, while at the same time establishing an informational environment atthe Saitama University Library. When school is in-session, the SaitamaUniversity Library is open every day including Saturdays, Sundays and nationalholidays.

Collections
The Saitama University Library owns and provides not only a collection ofmore than 850,000 of books, magazines and newspapers, but also audiovisualmaterials such as CD-ROMs, videos and DVDs, etc. Moreover, the Library provideslearning materials for international students and students who are to studyoverseas.
Informational Environment
In a reference room, there are information terminals where students canaccess the internet for various databases, and electronic journals for writingpapers. In reading rooms, students can bring their own personal computers anduse the internet, and write papers by connecting via ethernet ports or viawireless LAN. Moreover, there are CD-ROM terminals and terminals designated forthe use of OPAC, which enables online searches for the collections held at theUniversity.

University Hall
On the third floor, there are large and small meeting rooms, as well asmusic appreciation rooms. On the second floor, there are conference rooms,meeting rooms and Japanese-style rooms. On the first floor, there is a lobby, alounge and a convenience store (Lawson Saitama University Store), with a spacewhere students can eat and drink. Moreover, there is the “University InformationZone” in the convenience store, where University publications are displayed anddistributed.

三楼有大小不同的会议室和音乐欣赏室。二楼有会议室、会客室和日式房间。在一楼，有休息室、洗衣间和便利店(埼玉大学劳森便利店)。便利店有地方供学生吃喝。另外，便利店还有大学信息区，展示和分发学校的出版物。
