International Scholarships (undergraduate)
The University invests more than £1M each year in scholarships andbursaries for international undergraduate students. Self-funded internationalapplicants are automatically considered for a Loughborough UniversityInternational Scholarship(currently 25% of tuition fees for the first year ofstudy).
Students with exceptional school or college grades (or predicted grades)may be offered this award on the basis of their initial application and will beadvised of this with their offer of a place.
Some individual academic schools and departments make available a 10%tuition fee bursary to self-funded students on specified courses.

International applicants will automatically be considered for aLoughborough University International Scholarship. Normally students will beadvised if they are being awarded a scholarship with their offer of a place,though in some circumstances the scholarship offer may be sent later.
Please note any award made to an applicant holding a conditional offer willbe subject to the conditions being met in full.

What is outstanding academic achievement and potential?
Different courses will have varying criteria for awarding thesescholarships. However, in general, students will be expected to have achieved,or be predicted to achieve the equivalent of A*AA to AAA in three full A-levels.Students with other international qualifications will also be considered and anequivalent level of achievement will be required.
Only applicants selecting the Loughborough University offer as their firm(first) choice through UCAS will be eligible for these Scholarships.

What if I decide to defer my place?
If an applicant finds it necessary to defer his or her application to thenext academic year, then the scholarship award will not automatically bedeferred. In this situation, the applicant should contact the InternationalOffice who will confirm whether the scholarship will be available the followingyear.

International Scholarships (postgraduate)
Loughborough University is pleased to offer postgraduate taughtscholarships to new, self-funding, full-time international students who arepermanently resident in a country outside the European Union (EU).
Scholarships range between 10% and 25% of the programme tuition fee, andare set against the tuition fee. Scholarships are normally awarded on the basisof outstanding academic achievement and potential.

Application Process for Postgraduate Taught applicants
Applicants to all schools will automatically be considered for ascholarship - provided the initial application is complete and contains all therelevant information (degree transcripts, references etc.).
There is no separate scholarship application process. Applicants willnormally be informed if they are to be awarded a scholarship with their offer ofa place, or shortly after they receive their offer.
Selection criteria: What is outstanding academic achievement andpotential?
Academic Achievement - Different Academic Schools have varying criteria forawarding scholarships, however, in general we will be looking for students whohave the equivalent of a UK First Class honours degree, or a very high 2:1 ORwho have sufficient grades to demonstrate the potential to achieve this level.The precise grades vary from country to country. The equivalence to a firstclass or 2.1 degree for a range of overseas qualifications can be found on ourInternational Equivalences webpage. The exact criteria for each award isspecified on the individual Academic School webpage.
Personal Statement / Work Experience
The award may also be made to students who show outstanding achievement orpotential in other areas. The personal statement is the opportunity to show thatyou have an exceptional background of achievement in other areas such as work orvoluntary activities and for you to show that you have the potential to make anexceptional contribution to the University, and to society after yougraduate.
Deferring your place
If an applicant finds it necessary to defer his or her application to thenext academic year, then the scholarship award will not automatically bedeferred.
