Undergraduate SCHOLARSHIPS
As an international student, you may be eligible to apply for a range ofdifferent scholarships we offer:
University international scholarships – a fee reduction of £3,000 per yearfor every year of your course
Sports scholarships – you can apply for a sports scholarship in any year ofyour studies
Merit scholarships – these scholarships recognise academic performance onyour course
International College scholarships – for students from the University ofBrighton International College starting a degree at the University ofBrighton

1.UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
(1)About these scholarships
In 2017 there are 10 University of Brighton international scholarshipsavailable to new, full-time international undergraduate taught-degreestudents.
The scholarship is worth a £3,000 reduction in the cost of your tuitionfees for each year of your course.
Applications for 2017 are open between 1 November 2016 and 31 July2017.

(2)Criteria
The criteria for awarding University of Brighton international scholarshipsare primarily merit-based. Merit does not necessarily have to mean academicmerit but could also be interpreted to include outstanding performance in avariety of spheres.
The strongest candidates will be those demonstrating a mixture of academicmerit (including English language ability) and other merit or outstandingachievement in a particular field of activity.
You will also need to show that you have sufficient funds to pay theremainder of the fees.

(3)Who is eligible?
To be eligible to apply for a scholarship you must be a new, full-time,international fee-status student holding an offer for an undergraduate taughtdegree.
You must have applied for the course of your choice at the University ofBrighton or Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and have been offered a place onthat course for 2016 entry.
Students studying foundation degrees or undergraduate degrees at Universityof Brighton partner colleges are not eligible for these scholarships.
These scholarships are not open to students that are fully sponsored.
Existing international students are not eligible unless starting a newundergraduate programme.

For the 2017 academic year, please emailinternationalscholarships@brighton.ac.uk with your University of Brightonstudent number or UCAS number in the subject line, and we will send you ascholarship application pack.
The application form can then be returned electronically to the same emailaddress or sent by post to the address indicated on the scholarship applicationform. Please note application forms will not be sent to students who do not havean offer of a full-time place with us.

(5)Deadline for application
There are four application deadlines throughout the year: 31 January, 31March, 31 May, and 31 July 2017. Early applications will be processed in linewith these dates and awards made in the month following each deadline, withfinal awards coming at the end of August. Decisions will be made by an awardscommittee coordinated by the International Office and Academic Services, anddecisions about scholarship awards will be communicated to applicantsapproximately two weeks after those dates.
You are advised to apply as early as possible after you have received ouroffer, as the number of scholarships is limited.
Please note that any accompanying documentation will not be returned andthat the university's Scholarship Award Committee's decision is final.

How to apply
There is no application process as these scholarships are awarded on thebasis of students' academic performance in end-of-year assessments.
Receipt of scholarships
These scholarships are paid in the autumn of the year they are awarded.They are partly funded by the university's ambassadors group.
We have two different types of sports scholarships:
The elite athletes / elite disabled athletes scholarships are for studentswho have reached a national level of competition or performance and have thepotential and dedication to reach world-class performance level.
The talented sports performers scholarship is for students who haverepresented their sport at national or regional level or who are able todemonstrate that they have the potential to compete at these levels.

Who is eligible to apply?
You should have reached a junior or senior national level of competition orperformance and have the potential and dedication to reach world-classperformance level (or equivalent) in your sport.
You should have been accepted on a University of Brighton course or be acurrent student of the university, or a directly funded course at a partnercollege.

The University of Brighton International College (UBIC) offers a range ofpartial scholarships to international students who successfully complete theircourse at the college and progress onto studying at the university.
Students with the best academic grades, excellent attendance and who havecontributed to the student community at the International College may beeligible to a £2,000 scholarship.

Pestalozzi scholars are expected to meet the rest of their living costsfrom paid employment.
Who is eligible
University of Brighton Pestalozzi scholarships are open to students atthePestalozzi International Village, Sedlescombe, East Sussex who wish to go onto higher education and who would not be able to do so without the support ofthe scheme.
Pestalozzi students are all exceptionally able, having achieved higheducational qualifications and shown a commitment to community service. All haveshown intentions to return home and assist in the social and economicdevelopment of their home countries.
