Murdoch scholarships
A scholarship is a payment made to an eligible student to support their study. It is not a loan and does not have to be repaid. Most scholarships are not intended to be used to pay tuition fees, but can help to cover university costs such as books, living expenses and transport.
At Murdoch we offer scholarships for a range of students including:
international students
students facing financial hardship
students with records of high achievement
students studying specific courses
There are also a number of scholarships offered by external providers, including government and private organisations.

MUAEA: International Students
The Murdoch University Academic Excellence Awards (MUAEA's) acknowledge and reward commencing students who have a record of high academic achievement in previous studies.
Undergraduate
MUAEA's are awarded to commencing international students enrolled in all Murdoch University courses with an average grade of 75% (or equivalent depending on the grading system) or higher in the last course prior to applying to a Murdoch University Undergraduate degree.
Postgraduate
MUAEA's are awarded to commencing international students with an average grade of 75% or higher or equivalent GPA in the Bachelor degree course prior to applying to a Murdoch University Graduate Diploma or Masters by Coursework degree.

2. Email your completed application to international.admissions@murdoch.edu.au
What happens next?
Applications will be assessed based on the information included in the application and scholarships will be granted to students that meet the eligibility criteria. In cases where there are more eligible scholarship applicants than there are scholarships to allocate, the scholarships will be awarded to the top applicants as ranked by the Admissions Office.
The outcome of the application will be advised by email and no further correspondence will be entered into.
The University reserves the right not to award scholarships if there are no suitable applicants.

Dean's Scholarship for Scientific Excellence
The School of Engineering and Information Technology will be competitively awarding multiple scholarships of up to $20,000 each to applicants commencing any Undergraduate or Masters by Coursework course, located in the School of Engineering and Information Technology, who demonstrate a pursuit for scientific excellence.
Five scholarships will be reserved exclusively for students applying for admission into either:
Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering; or
Environmental Engineering; or
Environmental Engineering and Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering (as a double major); or
Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering and Chemistry (as a combined degree); or
Environmental Engineering and Chemistry (as a combined degree)

Undergraduate
Scholarships are competitively awarded to students commencing a Murdoch University Undergraduate degree and major offered by the School of Engineering and Information Technology (as shown on the application form). Students must have achieved an average grade of 90% or higher, in their prior completed course, or have achieved equivalent exceptional performance in any STEM discipline prior to applying to Murdoch University.
Postgraduate
Scholarships are competitively awarded to students commencing a Murdoch University Postgraduate course and major offered by the School of Engineering and Information Technology who have achieved anaverage grade of 85% or higher or equivalent GPA in the an undergraduate course prior to application.

Payment:Subject to the terms and conditions of the award being met, throughout the scholarship recipients study at Murdoch University, the award is paid in two equal instalments directly to a recipient's nominated Australian bank account over two consecutive calendar years. In other words, for those that commence their study in Semester 1 of 2017:
The first instalment will be paid after the Semester 1 2017 census date;
The second instalment will be paid after the Semester 1 2018 census date

Eligibility:
To be eligible for the award, applicants must:
Be an international student;
Have applied to Murdoch University to study a course specialising in one of the majors offered by the School of Engineering and Information Technology (see list on application form);
Have applied for this course before the Semester Two deadline; and
Have achieved an IELTS of 6.5 or aboveFor undergraduate admission and scholarship eligibility you must have:
Either a West Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) or an equivalent high school certificate; and
Either an average grade of 90% and above or have received an equivalent result within the last 18 calendar months from the closing date of the award;For postgraduate admission and scholarship eligibility you must have:
Achieved an undergraduate GPA > 3.5/4 or equivalent exceptional performance.

What happens next?
Applicants will be assessed based on the published eligibility criteria. If the number of eligible applications exceeds the number of awards that can be granted, award applicants will be ranked and awards made based on highest ATAR scores or IB equivalents in the first instance and then by recommended subjects followed by English competence levels.

Australian Institute of Energy Scholarship
The Australian Institute of Energy (AIE) Scholarships have been established in the spirit of benevolence to support students from Murdoch University. Two x 1-year scholarships valued at $3,000 each per year. Payment will be made to students in two $1,500 instalments following the HECS census dates of semesters one and two. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards payment of their course fees, or for other education-related expenses such as books, accommodation, travel costs etc.

Banksia Association Honours Scholarship
The Banksia Association is a special group of individuals who have made an impact on Murdoch University during its 38 year history. Banksia Association members include past external members of the University Senate, individuals who have been awarded Honorary Degrees, Emeritus Professors and others who are passionate about Murdoch University and Higher Education.
The Banksia Association Honours Scholarship was established in 2008 to encourage our highest achieving students to continue their education at Murdoch University by providing them with financial assistance during their Honours year.
