The Scholarship is available to both domestic and international students. Candidates for professional doctorates, as well as the PhD, are welcome to apply.

Established by the University of Otago Council and Brooker United Travel in 2013, to provide doctoral candidates with support towards travel to an international conference. One scholarship per Division will be offered each year.

undertaking a Coursework Master's degree (degree by papers only, or, if a research component is included, the research paper should have a point value of less than 90 points)*
* Coursework Master’s Scholarships are not available for the papers year of a two-year research Master’s degree.

Established by the University Council in association with the Guardian Trust in 2011 to provide support for Theatre Studies students to pursue postgraduate study. The scholarship was made possible by a generous endowment from the late Mrs Eleanor Wright, to honour the memory of her daughter Noni Wright, who was well known in drama circles, and had appeared on programmes for the BBC.
Applicants must:
be currently enrolled or intending to enrol for full-time study at the University of Otago in the year following the closing date
be intending to study for the degree of MA or MFA in Theatre Studies, or for a PhD researching a topic in Theatre Studies

The Diane Campbell-Hunt Memorial Award was established in 2010 with funds raised following the tragic death of Diane Campbell-Hunt in an accident on Mount Taranaki in October 2008.
Diane Campbell-Hunt was a PhD candidate in the Department of Geography, funded by a Tertiary Education Commission Top Achiever Doctoral scholarship. She had completed two-thirds of her PhD programme at the time of her death. Her project looked at the long-term sustainability of fenced sanctuaries in New Zealand in a multi-disciplinary analysis: ecological, economic, social, and governmental.
The intent of this award is to support research on any topic that will contribute to fostering the conservation of New Zealand’s plants and animals and the communities they form, including also the social processes involved in conservation, e.g. political, legal, economic and management, and to have the research communicated to a general audience.
Applicants must:
be enrolled and confirmed in a PhD programme in any Department or School at the University of Otago.
have had accepted in a peer-reviewed academic paper (conference or journal) that contributes to New Zealand conservation, and in which they are the lead author.

Established by the family of Angus Ross in 2010, the Angus Ross Travel Scholarship in History is intended to assist PhD candidates studying history with the costs associated with off-campus field and archival research.
Applicants must be:
University of Otago PhD students
conducting historically-focused research (preference will be given to candidates primarily based in the Department of History and Art History)
conducting off-campus field or archival research in the year of which the scholarship is awarded (the year following)
Note that this scholarship is not intended to support travel to a conference. Previous recipients are not eligible to apply for the scholarship in subsequent years.
