考研已经进入冲刺阶段，不少同学的单词功底仍不过关,对于记忆单词仍旧很迷茫。其实,我们都知道英文的单词通常包含有前缀、后缀和词根三部分。
词根部分很多都基本是我们学过的一些基础词汇,所以在学习单词时,若能掌握一定的前后缀的知识,然后结合词根部分的基本含义,那么背单词将容易很多,同时许多单词的意思也可以进行大胆猜测。
拿insidious 这个词(2004年阅读第二篇)来说,乍一看会觉得从未相识。但仔细一分析会发现,词根部分就是insid-来自于inside,内部的,-ous是形容词后缀,所以insidious意思就应该是“隐藏在内部的,不明显的”。
还有,英语二2010年第三篇中出现的ruthless, 这个单词大家也可能会觉得特别陌生,的确,它从未在真题出现过,但是我们来看看它的后缀-less,不就来自于单词less嘛,而less是little的比较级,little表示少或几乎没有,所以less就可以引申为否定的含义,比如大家很熟悉的homeless(无家可归的),hopeless(没有希望的)。因此ruthless这个单词,即使我们不知道它的具体意思,也能猜出来是表示否定的含义。
