The Jade Hairpin, a legendary opera drama in the Ming Dynasty authored by Gao Lian, is honored as one of the ten major traditional comedies. It describes the love story of Pan Bizheng, a scholar and Chen Miaochang, a nun in the Southern Song Dynasty.
