Do you grow plants at home？
Yes， I do have some plants at my balcony. I have kept them for almost two years.
What plants do you grow？
I’m quite into a kind of plant called succulent. It has thick soft stems， and it varies in different kinds and colours. It’s now a very popular kind of ornamental plant in China.
Do you know anything about growing a plant？
Well， since succulent has thick soft leaves or stems that can hold a lot of liquid， you don’t have to water it very often. I usually water my succulent once a week and it can survive in dry sunny seasons for a long time.
Do Chinese people send plants as gifts？
Yes， we will. And we’ll send different kinds of plants on different occasions. For example boys will send roses to their girls on Valentine’s Day， and carnation is a common choice for Mother’s Day.

The person I’d like to talk about is Sunyang， he is a Chinese swimming star who has broken the latest world record in swimming at the World Championships in Shanghai. Sun was born in a sporting family in east Zhejiang province. His parents were once volleyball players.
The first time I knew him was when he won the gold medal in the men’s 1500-meter freestyle at the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai. I watched the TV rebroadcast， and I saw him celebrating this good news with boyish delight. Sunyang is the first Chinese male swimmer to win the gold medal and secures victory with an Olympic record. Besides， he is the only swimming athlete who won the champions of 200m， 400m， 1500m freestyle of the Olympic Games.
As a Chinese swimmer， he became famous because of all those remarkable achievements he made. Moreover， he is hard working and persevering. What people see now is a rising swimming star who celebrates his victory calmly， pursuing his dream firmly.

From my perspective， an athlete has to be hardworking and persevering in order to become famous. Only by training hard and never giving up can an athlete achieve a good result. And achievements are the best and most convincing things to draw public’s attention.
