英国葡萄酒大师协会有什么选拔要求？英国葡萄酒大师协会的成员
英国伦敦的葡萄酒大师协会近日宣布，又有七人完成全部考试科目，成为新的葡萄酒大师（master of wine）。
这七人分别是：Craig Drummond（56岁，澳大利亚）、David Le Mire（36,岁，澳大利亚）、Peter Mitchell（ 35岁，英国）、Pierpaolo Petrassi（42岁，英国）、Barbara Philip（41岁，女，加拿大）、Greg Sherwood（35岁，南非人，住英国）、Ulf Sjodin（ 41岁，瑞典）。
目前世界上共有264位葡萄酒大师，他们分别来自20个不同的国家，华人尚无人获此殊荣。

葡萄酒大师是葡萄酒行业最著名，也是条件最苛刻的职业资格，凡是通过每年5月由葡萄酒大师协会所组织的考试的人可被称为葡萄酒大师。此职业资格由19世纪50年代的葡萄酒商人团体Wine and Spirits Association与Worshipful Company of Vintners协力策划。第一次考试于1953年举办，21人参加，6人通过。1955葡萄酒协会建立实体，现在拥有257名成员，来自19个不同国家，但仅有78名葡萄酒大师生活工作在英国境外。
葡萄酒大师资格开始只对英国葡萄酒贸易行业人员开放，以至于到1978年拥有此项殊荣的才达到100人。1983年此资格证书放宽报考条件，一些与葡萄酒边缘行业有关的人员（例如葡萄酒文章撰稿者）也可以报考，不过直到1987年此资格才对非英国公民开放。1988年，第一位非英国公民（澳大利亚籍人士）获得此称号。1990年两名美国人获得此称号，1991年，此项考试每年同一时间在伦敦、悉尼和纽约三地开考。到1993年，全世界已有179人获此殊荣，其中27名为女性，23名为非英籍人士，而且有一位非葡萄酒行业人员——一名好莱坞律师也被授予葡萄酒大师称号。

一般要报考葡萄酒大师你必须拥有WSET第4级的资格证书（也有例外，如英国的Tim Atkin），而报考WSET4级要求你必须拥有WSET第3级证书。而在国外，如果你想参加酒类行业的考试，你还要年满18岁。理论上讲，4个月可以考出3级，15个月考出4级，然后通过两年的幸苦准备，如果够幸运，22岁左右可以得到葡萄酒大师这一光环称号，甚至比你得××硕士称号都要早一些。
花费多少呢？3级600镑左右，4级3000镑左右，葡萄酒大师5300镑左右，等考得葡萄酒大师称号，你至少要花费9000镑左右的学费，当然这还不包括你平时自己品尝葡萄酒，以及去国外考试（国内只有3级的以下的考点）所需的花费。粗略算下来，没有二、三十万人民币甭想。

The first Master of Wine examinations were held in 1953, under the auspices of the “Worshipful Company of Vintners” and the “Wine and Spirits Association”, and 6 candidates achieved the standard required to become the first Masters of Wine. The Institute was established as an entity in 1955 and there are now 257 Masters of Wine who comprise its membership. For the first 30 years the annual examination was limited to UK “traders in wine” (defined as importers, merchants and retailers) but in the 1980s the examination was opened to anyone earning their living in wine world-wide and the first non-UK MW succeeded in the examinations in 1987.
The Institute now has 257 members of 19 different nationalities, living in 21 countries throughout the world. Education seminars and examinations are held in 3 countries, the UK, the USA and Australia. 78 members live and work outside the UK, almost all of whom have become members in the last 12 years.
