加拿大留学生就业新政策
加拿大移民部部长在4月18日宣布了有关留学生在加拿大工作政策的最新决定：1)在公立大学和学院学习的留学生，在学习期间，可在校园外打工(以前是只能在校与内工作)。2)留学生在加拿大大学完成学位后，可在加拿大合法工作两年(以前是一年)。3)留学生从一所加拿大大学和学院转到另一所加拿大大学和学院，不再需要重新申请学生签证。4)在中学读书的留学生，可获取比以前更长的学生签证。现将移民部的网站上原文传载如下:MOREREASONSFORINTERNATIONALSTUDENTSTOCHOOSECANADAOTTAWA,April18,2005—TheHonourableJoeVolpe,MinisterofCitizenshipandImmigration,ispleasedtobuildonthesuccessofCanada’sinternationalstudyprogrambyannouncingnewinitiativestobetterattract,integrateandretaininternationalstudentsinregionsthroughoutthecountry.Inpartnershipwithprovincesandterritories,CitizenshipandImmigrationCanada(CIC)isexpandingtwopilotinitiativestohelpmakeCanadaadestinationofchoiceforinternationalstudents.Thefirstwillallowinternationalstudentsatpublicpost-secondaryinstitutionstoworkoff-campuswhilecompletingtheirstudiessothattheycanexperiencetheCanadianlabourmarketandgainawiderunderstandingofCanadiansociety.Thesecondwillallowstudentstoworkfortwoyears,ratherthanoneyear,aftertheirgraduation.Thissecondinitiativewillapplyoutsid eMontréal,TorontoandVancouvertohelpspreadthebenefitsofimmigrationtomoreofCanada’sregions.ThroughpastpilotprojectsandagreementswithCIC,someprovinceshavealreadyexperiencedthesuccessoftheinitiatives,whicharenowbeingexpandedthroughoutCanada.TheGovernmentofCanadaisinvesting$10millionayearforfiveyearstosupportthisannouncement.“WehavebeenlisteningtoourstakeholdersandarecertainthattheseinitiativeswillhelpincreasetheglobalcompetitivenessofCanadabyattractingandretainingmoreinternationalstudentstoourschools,”saidMinisterVolpe.“InternationalStudentswhochoosetostayinCanadaaftertheygraduategreatlycontributetoourlabourmarket.ItisimportantthattheybeexposedtotheCanadianworkforceatanearlystagetoincreasetheirchancesofsuccessfollowinggraduation.”“WhethertheychoosetostayinCanadaorreturntotheirhomecountry,theywillhaveacquiredCanadianexperienceandvaluesthatwillenrichtheirlives.Theywillalsospreadthewordaboutthequalityofeducation&n bsp;Canadahastooffer,”addedtheMinister.CIChasalsomadeotheradjustmentstoitsinternationalstudyprogram.Forexample:Post-secondaryinternationalstudentscannowtransferbetweenprogramsofstudyandinstitutionswithoutapplyingforachangetotheconditionsoftheirstudypermit.Secondary-levelinternationalstudentscannowobtainlongerhigh-schoolstudypermits.AsofMay16,2005,internationalstudentswhomeettheeligibilitycriteriaforasecondyearofpost-graduationemploymentwillbeissuedatwo-yearworkpermit.Forthesestudents,thetwo-yearworkpermitwillonlybevalidforoneyearsincetheywillhavealreadycompletedtheirfirstyearofpost-graduatework.Aswithexistingpilotprojects,theoff-campusworkinitiativewillbeimplementedbilaterallyineachprovinceandterritory,followingagreementswithCIC.Formoreinformationontoday’sannouncementoronhowtoobtainapermittostudyinCanada,pleasevisitCIC’sWebsiteatwww.cic.gc.ca.Formoreinformation(mediaonly):S tephenHeckbertDirectorofCommunicationsOfficeoftheMinister(613)954-1064MariaIadinardiMediaRelationsCommunicationsBranch(613)952-0740相关推荐：
